Cat With Guns - update 1
Level blocking/structure: since the last build upload, the skeleton for the overall map is done. While yes the graphics are by no means good (they are placeholders after all) they will show players what the general map will look like. Keep in mind that these areas will be detailed as and may even be expanded or shrunk based on feedback.
To lay the basis for an upcoming feature doors have been added to the map. Players are able to interact with these doors. In the next build I am hoping to implement the doors as being "buyable" by having the player spend the points they have earned from killing enemies.
Feedback from testing: I received feedback regarding that the rotation point of the character is a bit off of center. I am looking into polishing the rotation so the player has a smoother experience while playing. I did also receive feedback on the controls. I had a few comments from people finding the "WASD" movement unusual for a top-down game and rather have the character move towards the mouse position by rotating and then moving to mouse with a key input. More people gave feedback saying that the "WASD" movement was good and preferred. Possibly later on I will attempt to implement a secondary movement scheme to appeal to those who prefer to have the player move to the mouse cursor.
Features to come: The next 3 feature I will be implementing are enemies, UI elements (health, score,etc) and interactive objects.
Different enemy types for the player to combat with. Enemies that will pursue the player and ranged enemies that will flee if the player is to close.
Interactive objects such as doors to access new areas with items and traps to aid in their survival.
